Dr. Spiros Konstantine Analitis, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.I.C.S., 75 years old, passed away following a courageous seven month battle on May 4, 2026. Born in 1951, he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jane (nee Stephenson), and five children. Sons - Conrad Allan, Alexander (Rosa) Analitis, Dionysios (Marieleni) Analitis, Nicholas Analitis and daughter Cristina (Gavin) Allen. Brother of Peter (Oksana) Analitis, Brother-in-law of Yolanda Stephenson-Bassi, Helen (the late Percy) Pollard and Marina Gerber. Uncle of Kostas (Efi) Analitis, Vasili (Vaso) Analitis, Percival Constantine (Kotono) Pollard, Angelica (Anthony) Batha. Great Uncle of Anastasia, Athanasia, Helena, Philip, Benjamin and Jonathan. Grandfather of Sophia, Evie and Dionysia (the newborn he never met). Cousins, nieces/nephews and friends, too numerous to mention.
Spiro retired from Rockford Memorial Hospital, following a long and successful career, serving as Chief Attending Trauma Surgeon, Trauma Medical Director, Chairman - Trauma Advisory Committee, Clinical Assistant - Professor of Surgery, University of Illinois College of Medicine, Rockford, IL. Spiro graduated from the University of Athens Medical School in 1981. Fellow of the International College of Surgeons in General and Trauma Surgery in 1993. Inducted as Fellow to the American College of Surgeons in 2007. Re-Certified with The American Board of Surgery in 2008. He was licensed in the State of Illinois, Iowa and Florida.
Spiro was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the warm Gulf waters of Florida’s West Coast and the picturesque deep blue Ionian Sea. He truly enjoyed fishing with his cousins, boys and nephews, but most importantly, he cherished his annual visits to Kefalonia, every summer to visit with his late mother, brother and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests and deeply appreciates memorial contributions be made payable to Spiro’s brother, Peter Analitis, earmarked for Ayia Paraskevi Church located in Spiro’s place of birth in the Village of Atheras, Kefalonia, Greece. Spiro and his son, Dionysios, were baptized there and in addition, Spiro’s parents and son, Dionysios (Marieleni), were married there, so this church held deep meaning for him. All donations will go directly to this church.
