Perry George Pappas, 88, of Chicago passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025. He was born in Krokees, Greece on March 7, 1937 to the late George and Vasiliki Papatheodorakos. Perry was a proud veteran who served as a paratrooper, with the US Army. Following his tour in the Army, he was a restauranteur for many years finally throwing in his spatula to join the Teamsters for the City of Chicago until his retirement. Perry enjoyed golf, fishing and sitting on his couch watching Westerns and Jeopardy. He was a dedicated member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Chicago.
Perry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lily Pappas (nee Orfanos); Devoted father of the late Rev. Fr. George P. (Presvytera Kathy) Pappas and Tom (Liza) Pappas; Loving grandfather of Perry George, Lia Peri, Lola Maria, and Aristotle Tom; Brother of James (the late Helen), the late William (Olympia), the late Athena (the late Peter) Lemperis; Cherished by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family in Greece and across the US.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Demetrios Philoptochos Society.
Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by Funeral services starting at 11 am on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2727 W. Winona St., Chicago, IL 60625. Interment with military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
