Mike Angelo Kouimelis

Mike Angelo Kouimelis, 77, of Champaign and formerly of Carol Stream, Illinois passed away on February 19, 2023. He was born in Kandila, Greece on October 5, 1945 to the late Angelo and Fotini Kouimelis.

Mike was an Army veteran (1968). His younger years were filled with travel: Greece, China, Finland, Germany, and many other countries. Mike was an avid Cubs fan who watched nearly 162 games every summer. If baseball wasn’t on, he would tune in to old western movies. He could always be found in the kitchen cooking or offering cooking advice to his children. In past years, he enjoyed his weekly gatherings with his friends at Butterfields Pancake House. Mike found immense happiness after moving to Champaign to be closer to his daughter, Sondra, and his grandchildren. In his final year he fulfilled his lifelong dream to visit Greece with his three children.

He is survived by his children: Faye Kouimelis, Sondra (Matthew) Kresca, Evan (Erin Bishop) Kouimelis; grandchildren: Tyler Clarkson, Brady Clarkson, Mason Kresca; and siblings: Luca Kouimelis (Dennis Hill), Nick (Eleni) Kouimelis, Patricia Corrigan, George Kouimelis (Karen Lewis).

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Animal Rescue of the Rockies.
