Maria Bougas

On Saturday, June 11, 2022. Maria Bougas of Wheeling, IL passed away peacefully, at the age of 92. After a long illness of Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Kastanitsa, Greece on August 20, 1929. She immigrated to the United States where she was welcomed and housed by Relatives. Shortly after establishing herself. She helped bring over her Siblings and many others by Sponsoring them and helping them get jobs. Predeceased by her loving parents Sotirios Bougas and Eugenia (nee ) Petrou, her siblings Elias ,Eleni Lizas, and Vassiliki Magelou. She received her Diploma as a Dress Designer from The Ray Vogue School in Chicago in 1961, as well as her Modeling Diploma in 1963 from Vogue Inc. She opened her first Dress Shop "Maria Bougas Originals" on Walton St. in Chicago. Where she Designed many beautiful gowns for many Dignateries as well as The Famous Korean Singers. The Kim Sisters. She was loved my many in her Church Communities of Assumption Church "Panayia" as well as Holy Trinity in Chicago where she dedicated her musical talents both in Choir and as an Organist. Playing for many Special Events and Weddings. She leaves many Nieces and Nephews both here and in Greece. As well as her Greek American Rehabilitation Center Family who she Adored and was a Resident for over 10 years. She was always the First to Greet "New Comers". Always with a Smile and dressed to the Nines. She will be especially missed by her Niece Christina Kanatas and Family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11AM at the Transfiguration of Our Savior Church in Elmwood Cemetery, 2905 Thatcher Ave., River Grove, IL 60171. Interment will follow. Visitation will be at the church from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Centre, 220 1st St., Wheeling, IL 60090.
