Konstantinos (Kostas) D. Alikakos, age 82, passed away on May 15, 2026. Born on March 27, 1944 in Tseria, Greece, he was the devoted husband of Maria for 44 years and the adored father of Alexandra, Irene, and Dimitra Alikakos. Kostas was the cherished brother to Hlias (Dora) Alikakos and Voula (Menis) Demerakos and loving uncle to Aspasia (Kosta) Prokos, George Demerakos, and Alexandra (Dr. Christos) Tsaliagos.
Kostas was preceded in death by his parents, Dimitri and Alexandra Alikakos.
Family was the center of Kostas’ world. He felt profound pride in his wife, children, siblings, and family history. He was resolute in his obligation, guidance, and tenderness for them. He looked upon them with joy for simply entering the room and was always ready with an attentive ear and comforting embrace. Kostas had a gift for making friendships that lasted a lifetime. He made people feel welcome, valued, and connected.
Chicago was the city he adopted and where he worked as head chef for numerous downtown restaurants. His reputation of talent and integrity followed him throughout. Kostas’ love for his homeland of Greece was ever present. He shared its traditions through his embodiment of community, knowledge of the land, food, and music. He found happiness in the simple moments – tranquil observation in the garden, playful storytelling, watching a Cubs game, and visiting with friends. He will be remembered for his charming smile, generous heart, his wit, and appetite for life. He represented home to his loved ones. May his memory be eternal.
