Demetrios (Jimmy) Stavrou, 89, of Morton Grove, Illinois passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born in Nestani, Greece on January 17, 1936 to the late Panagiotis and the late Konstandina Stavrou. Jimmy was an ambitious man that left his homeland for the American Dream at the tender age of 18. With hard work and determination he started from the ground up and became a successful restaurateur that enjoyed his customers in the service industry for 45+ years. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching sports on the television and was a devoted Cubs and Bear fan. He was a dedicated member of St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago and was known for volunteering to cook for the fests and church events over the years.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Canella Stavrou (nee Reveliotis); Devoted and loving father of Constance Stavrou and Pete (Kathy) Stavrou; Loving grandfather of Demetrios Stavrou; Brother of the late George (the late Vasiliki), and the late Kosta (Vasiliki) Stavrou. Cherished, loved and admired by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family in Greece and across the US. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago.
Visitation will begin at 10am followed by Funeral services starting at 11am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 5649 N. Sheridan Rd, Chicago, IL 60660.
