Jay S. Novick

Jun 27, 1957 — Oct 2, 2026

Schaumburg, IL

Jay Stuart Novick, 69, of Schaumburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones after a fierce and courageous 15-month battle with glioblastoma on October 2, 2026. Throughout his journey, Jay faced every challenge with remarkable strength, determination, resilience, and kept his defiant spirit up until the very end, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jay was born and raised in Skokie, IL, and was the beloved son of the late Irwin and Murial (Abramson) Novick. He was a devoted husband of 33 years to Janice (Meshun) Novick. He was a treasured father to Alexandria (Ryan) Zell and Zachary (Emily Nunez) Novick, and an incredible and proud Papou to Sophia and Julia Zell, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

He was a dear brother to Debbie (German Juarez) Novick, Daryl (Rita) Novick, and Patricia (Richard) Schassburger, a cherished brother-in-law to Georgiane Walls and Wendel Walls, and a proud uncle to Demetria Walls and Alexander Walls, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Family was the center of Jay's world, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved.

Jay dedicated 19 years of service to the Schaumburg DMV, where he became known not only for his commitment to helping others but also for the genuine friendships he formed with his coworkers. The relationships he built there remained meaningful throughout his life.

An avid sports fan, Jay passionately supported his beloved Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Blackhawks. In his free time, you could find Jay throwing a strike on the bowling alley or shooting for par on the golf course with a cigar in hand and friends by his side. In the family, Jay was the honorary team captain and energetic referee for games like Poker and LRC. While he loved sports in all forms, his greatest pride and fulfillment came from supporting his children. Whether cheering from the sidelines or coaching their teams, he cherished being involved in their athletic pursuits and celebrating their accomplishments. Those moments remain among his most treasured memories.

Known for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, Jay had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued. His sense of humor, generous spirit, and steadfast support of family and friends left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Though glioblastoma ultimately claimed his life, it never diminished his spirit. Jay fought fiercely throughout his battle, demonstrating extraordinary courage, determination, and grace. His resilience reflected the same strength of character that defined the way he lived his life, inspiring family and friends alike.

Jay will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, coworkers, and all whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, perseverance, laughter, and dedication to family will continue to inspire those who knew him.
