Dr. John Hanna Youssef Calash,70, of Hanover Park fell asleep in the Lord on August 4th, 2024. He was born in Egypt on February 11, 1954 to the late Youseff and Beloved husband of Christiane (née Tannous) for 37 years; Loving father of Florise, Marieantoinette, and Catherine Calash; Devoted son of the late Youssef, from Iskandaronas, Asia Minor and Florise (née Gasparis), from Patra Greece, Calash; Dear brother of Deacon Antonios (Diakonessa Ragaa) Calash (née Migali), Catherine (Dr. Fouad) Zaki (née Calash) and Presvetera Mary (Fr. Makarios) Gawish (née Calash); Fond uncle of Mary (Michael) Scott (née Calash), Joseph (Karly) Calash (née Van Ort), John (Rachel) Calash (née Guinsatao), Archimandrite Fr. Michel Zaki, Christine (Remond) Refaat (née Zaki), Dr. George (Alma Jean) Zaki (née Mitchell), Marc Zaki, Antoun Gawish and Dr. Mariam Gawish; Fond uncle of many more nieces, nephews, and cherished friend to many.
Dr. John found immense personal fulfillment in his role as an anesthesiologist in Egypt, where he was part of a consulting team for major surgeries. From a young age, he has always been passionate about helping people heal and explaining their medical conditions.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 S. Roselle Rd., Palatine, Illinois 60067. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. Visitation will be at church on Thursday from 10am until the time of service. May His Memory Be Eternal!
