Demetre P. Kaoukis, 85, of Chicago passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2025. He was born in Greece on April 6, 1940 to the late Panagiotis and Evangelia.
Throughout his professional career he was a gifted tailor and business owner. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, taking long walks, and exercising. He was a bright man, with strong ethics, a warm, kind heart, and a father and a friend to all that had the honor to meet him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Antiopi; children, Evelyn Kaoukis, Pete Kaoukis, Dina (Spiro) Houmpavlis, Nikki (Arturo) Kaoukis-Martinez; grandchildren Sophia, Thomas, Adam, Yianni, Alexandra, Demetre and Penelope; sister Magdalene; uncle to Libby, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 10 am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2727 W. Winona St., Chicago, IL 60625. Interment will follow at Montrose Cemetery. Visitation will be at church from 9 am until the time of service.
