Clara Lopez

Clara Lopez, 66, of Chicago passed away peacefully on March 5, 2021. She was born in Guatemala on August 12, 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Perez and Angela De Leon She is survived by her devoted husband Fredy; children, Byron (Claudia Arenas) Lopez, Luis (Truong Ngo) Lopez, Damary (Adam) Bahr, Elizabeth (Tuan Tran) Lopez , Esmeralda (Miguel Montes) Lopez, and Byron-Javier Lopez as well as four grandchildren; Nicole Arenas, Alyssa Bahr, Michael Bahr, and Ryder Rene Montes. Clara emigrated from her country with Fredy in the early 80’s to seek a better life for herself and her family in the United States. She found solace and help from a few kind, benevolent Christian women in the neighborhood of Humboldt Park, in Chicago, who helped her and her family in those early times of need. She became a devout Christian woman and selflessly devoted her life to raising her children by the morals and teachings of The Bible. In those early years, she was an active member of her church and a missionary for change in her community who would preach to the youth whenever she could out of motherly concern for their well-being. Her motherly love was so strong and her desire to help was so powerful that she also fought for the protection of very young children from less fortunate homes. For this reason, she adopted and raised two grandchildren as her own. Her happiest moments were spent lovingly preparing meals, surrounded by her family, and making sure everyone was well fed and happy. One of her proudest moments in her later years was when she became a United States citizen in 2011, as she loved this country and all the privileges living here granted her. She lived out the last days of her life under the loving, kind, and gentle care of her devoted son, Byron-Javier. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 10AM-11AM at Andersen Morgan Funeral Home, 3234 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60647. Interment and graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL.
